Welcome to the site!

I’m Catherine Dao, the crazy gal who thinks she can do it all. Insanity, yes, but hey, I’m doing it. But, wait, I wasn’t always this confident. Yeah, you say arrogant, I say confident. Everyone needs a Nancy Isaak in her/his life. Someone who will unconditionally pester you into believing in yourself, and dish out some big time butt-kicking to help you realize the potential that is within all of us. Thank you, Nancy. I love you for all the torture. We did it! I am so very grateful that we had so much talent and dedication on our set. A girl could really get spoiled fast that way. Believe it or not, my forte is comedy. I’ve written four feature-length screenplays prior to Symphoria, all of them comedies. But I was in the middle of the 3rd season of Dexter when I started writing this script. It was supposed to be a comedic variation of Pygmalion, by the brilliant George Bernard Shaw, only I am “Henry Higgins,” and “Liza” is the younger male student, and, of course, a different, modern day story. Well, you get the picture. Punny, I know. Anyway, not only did my story go darker and darker, it also just about wrote itself, which was new and exciting… and somewhat disturbing. Since I’m fortunate to be surrounded by people who love and support me, I was encouraged to go with it. So, now it’s a romantic thriller with its fair share of humor here and there (old habits die hard, after all).

Collaborative art making. Groovy. Lookin’ good on the tube. Best of luck to everyone.

    • Thank you, Rick. Team work under great leadership (i.e., Nancy Isaak) produces miracles! I think you know a little something about that yourself, Mr. Fearless Leader of the Malibu Stage Rep!

Hello Symphoria fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (insert loud screaming and clapping)

Hi Katherine! Hi Nancy! I just want to say it was a pleasure working with both of you. It was great being involved in a production in which the director and producer are such good friends.. So, I am writing to say Thank You. It was an amazing, invaluable journey…an adventure–challenging, rewarding and fun. The cast and crew were all awesome and I hope to work with everyone again in the future.

    • Thanks, Tyler. I appreciate your supportive comments and sharing your thoughts. It was a learning process for all of us. Glad you were on board. Thank you again. Principle photography was most exciting and fun. The fact that I miss it will give me motivation, not that I need any more, to finish this film and repeat the fun on the next film!
